Eastern Area Youth Chorale - 8 July 2010

On Thursday evening 8th July an audience of about 150 was entertained by The Eastern Area Youth Chorale from Pennsylvania.

Their artistic director Barbara Spiri and their pianist, Andrew Smith accompanied this group of about 20 young people. Also in the party was Hilary Moyes, a former member of Prenton URC, who now lives and works in America, and her daughter Alexandra, who was performing in the senior group of the choir.

The concert included both sacred and secular music, and was delivered with enthusiasm and professionalism.

The Chorale is made up of three choirs. The first is a training choir where students learn to read music and learn proper singing technique. On completion of training students audition for the primary choir and later those who show commitment may join the senior ensemble.

Those visiting St George’s were on an annual overseas trip, this year visiting France and England. The group had representatives from all three choirs.

Photographs taken on the night will shortly be available to view on St George’s Web site.
