Classical Concert

Again it was very satisfying to see so many people in the audience for this second classical concert. It was a pleasure to welcome two very talented young musicians and to be able to listen to music of such high quality on our own doorstep.

It was a varied and interesting programme showing the full potential of the instruments and the sensitivity of the players. It is an unusual combination of instruments but, if audience feedback is anything to go by, one which was heartily approved of.

The staging, though quite precarious, made a big difference in that all the audience could see the musicians. We were very grateful to the village hall for allowing us to borrow it.

We were also delighted that the church felt very warm. This time our thanks go to Brian Beecroft for “tinkering where necessary.” Lots of people commented favourably.

Publicity is paramount on occasions like these and we owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Angela and Andrew Booth. They produced such professional posters and programmes that we almost felt they were too good to sell!!

We had professional lighting set up for us by John Clark – again it lit the musicians beautifully. In fact with the candles lighting the Church the ambience was magical.

Refreshments were served with military provision and enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who helped here.

So many contributed to the success of the evening that it would be impossible to name them all. To everyone involved an enormous thank you.
